The Mintia Combined Cycle Power Plant is a major energy infrastructure project located near Deva, in Hunedoara County, Romania. The plant, developed by Mass Global Energy Rom (a subsidiary of Mass Group Holding), is designed to have a capacity of 1,700 MW, making it one of the largest gas-fired power plants in Europe.
The project involves the construction of new combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) units, modern high-efficiency boilers, and supporting infrastructure to replace the old coal-fired Mintia power station, which was decommissioned in 2021. By utilizing natural gas as a primary fuel, the facility is expected to provide cleaner and more reliable electricity to the Romanian grid, supporting the country’s transition toward decarbonization and compliance with EU energy standards.
The Mintia project is strategically important for energy security in Southeast Europe, ensuring stable supply, reducing dependence on coal, and contributing to the regional shift toward lower-carbon power generation.
